I’m a 39 year old runner from mighty Yorkshire who loves nothing more than spending time on the fells and trails. I compete for Calder Valley Fell Runners and Stainland Lions and during my career I’ve been lucky enough to represent Yorkshire, England and Great Britain at mountain running.

Good morning, I’ve just been reading through the jacket review as I’m looking for a new waterproof jacket for the cold wet Welsh trail hills. Reading through i have narrowed it down to the inov8 ultra shell pro and the Salomon bonatti pro.
I’m wondering out of the two which would be better suited for my needs

Are you wanting a jacket that you can both train and race in (lightweight)? The one I use the most is the inov-8 ultra shell pro. It’s super-lightweight so perfect for racing and great for training runs (less than 3 hours). I tend to train and race shorter distances, so if you’re after a jacket for ultras for example, then I would recommend something more heavy duty.
